First years of Band (2001/2002)
The band was formed: Gerard Way- voice, Drummer-Matt Pelissier.The first song write was Skylines and Turnstales, Written by Gerard, in which he talks about his fellings about the terrorist attacks of september 11.Shortly thereafter, Ray Toro,Mikey Way(Gerard's Brother) nad Frank Iero joined the group.
From the beginning the band was caraterized by dark aesthetic and lyrics that speak of love, dath and personal problems. First recorded their album in 2002 called the album I brought you My Bullets, you Brougth your Love, after the release of CD they began touring with band like The Used, Thrice and Tlking Back Sunday. Success with three Cheers for Sweet Revege(2004).
My Cahemical Romance signed a recording contract with Reprise Records in 2003 and began working on their second album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revege, released in 2004, and earning the group a platinum one year later(Selling more than 2 milions of copies).It is considered a concept album, a continuation of one of the story of a couple out-of-law killed in shootout.He ends up in purgatory, and the only way to reach her ir to return to earth and kill a thousand evil men. Resulted in three singles from the album, I'm Not Okay(I Promise), Helena and the Ghost of you.
They opened the presentation of the Greendat American Idiot tour. In 2005 we highlighted the Vans Warped tour 2005, and also his firs tour with Alkaline Trio. My Chemical Romance and The Used collaborated on a cover of " Under Pressure" Which was realeased in sunsequent impressions of the album In Love and Deatg of The Used. The song was recorded for an album that was intended to raise funds to help victims of the Tsunami 2004.
Changes with The Black Parade (2006)
On March21, 2006 the band released the DVD Life on the Murder Scene, Which includes two volumes on the history of the band and live album.The mork was postponed twice, it contains approximately 4h30 min information about the band, making offs, video clips and live performances, and interviews with people who had contact with the band, including producers, singers from other bands and friends.
The band also released their thrid album which is currently one of the best know entiled The Black Parade tells the history of a man dying in the hospital dying of cancer and remembering his life, starting from the time he was a child when his father took on black parade also marked a others. The single and album The Black Parade also marked a change in visual characterized by alter-egos. In video clip the vocalist Gerard way dyed his hair black whith white/ blond and shortened. Bassit Mikey Way took off his glasses. He also got the skeleton Crew, a chorus of people dressed on skeleton that accompany the band on your parade black. The band also released her album on vinyl with the B-sides, like "Famous Last Words" and "Welcome to the Balck parade" in live version and "Heaven Helps Us", "Kill All Your Friends" and My Way Home is Through You. In interviews Gerard Way, said it woud take a well deserved rest and treu and said could take years to release the next album.
Genres and Influênces of the band
The banda are inspired by movies, especially horror the assenbly of presentations at their shows. Some bands such as the influence like Thursday, The Smiths and the Misfits, The style of the commands have a mix styles such as alternative rock, post-hardcore, pop punk and punk rock.
